PENTAX Corporation is pleased to announce the introduction of the smc PENTAX-DA 12mm-24mm F4 ED AL [IF]. Developed for exclusive use with PENTAX digital SLR cameras, this compact, lightweight two-times zoom lens lets the photographer capture unique, eye-catching images with its ultra-wide-angle perspectives.
Major Features
1. Ultra-wide-angle coverage
When mounted on one of the PENTAX *istD-series digital SLR cameras, this two-times zoom lens offers an angle of view from 99 degrees to 61 degrees (equivalent in focal length from 18.5mm to 37mm in the 35mm format) to create extraordinary visual effects available only in ultra-wide-angle photography, including a greatly emphasized sense of perspective and an extremely wide depth of field (or in-focus area).
2. Digital SLR′s exclusive partner
This new zoom lens is developed for exclusive use with PENTAX digital SLR cameras. Its image circle is designed to perfectly match the dimensions of the image sensor (23.5mm x 15.7mm) incorporated in the *istD-series models, while its optics are configured to meet the specific requirements of digital photography. As a result, it not only assures outstanding image quality, but also offers a smaller, lighter body and superior cost performance than its 35mm-format counterparts with similar specifications.
3. Exceptional optical performance
The 13-element/11-group optical construction incorporating an ED (Extra-low Dispersion) element and two aspherical elements assures reproduction of beautiful, high-quality images in all applications, while greatly contributing to the downsizing of the lens body.
